How we keep your household's data safe
What's in place today, what we don't claim, and what we're working on next. We keep this page to what's actually live.
In place today
- Only your household sees your household LiveAccess rules in our database let each person see only the households they belong to, and only the items shared with them.
- Encrypted on your phone LiveAkimoa's database on your phone is encrypted with a random key kept in the phone's secure storage. The key never leaves the phone.
- Encrypted connections LiveEverything the app sends to our servers travels over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.
- Your sign-in stays in the phone's secure storage LiveNot in ordinary app storage. A new phone has to sign in before it sees anything.
- App Lock LiveLock Akimoa with Face ID, fingerprint or your phone's passcode.
- Read on your phone, not sent away LiveBank texts, payment notifications and anything your phone's own AI understands stay on the phone. One-time codes are never kept.
- Backups only you can open LiveEach backup is locked with a passphrase you choose. We can't open it, and we can't recover a forgotten passphrase.
- Only what's needed goes to AI LiveWhen you ask Akimoa's AI something, only the information needed to answer is sent, with internal identifiers removed. It runs only when you use it.
- Export or delete any time LiveExport your data, or delete your account and data, from inside the app.
What we don't claim
Household sync is not end-to-end encrypted: our servers handle synced information so they can deliver it to the right people, under the access rules above. We don't hold security certifications yet. If that changes, it'll be here, with evidence.
What we're working on
- Automatic checks in every release PlannedScanning for leaked secrets and risky dependencies before anything ships.
- More proof that households stay apart PlannedFurther testing that one household can never see another's information.
- A written incident plan PlannedNamed people, steps and timelines for anything that goes wrong, and telling you promptly if it affects you.
- Deciding on stronger protections PlannedOptions such as passkeys and end-to-end encryption, chosen after a proper review rather than promised up front.
